It is remarkable for its Gopurams (towering gateways) and richly sculpted mythological stories from Hinduism. The temple celebrates the history and culture of India as well as serving as a sacred site for pilgrims. 4. Tiruchanur Padmavati Ammavari Temple

Synopsis

The temple is for worshiping Goddess Padmavati who is the wife of Lord Venkateswara. The legend has it that she was born in a lotus flower and thus the lotus shaped temple was built in Tiruchanur in her memory. A lot of devotees perform the trip to Tirupati with this particular ritual in mind, as they believe it is an essential part of their pilgrimage to the temple.

Key Features:

  • Goddess Padmavati Idol: The beautifully dressed idol is a major attraction for pilgrims.
  • Sacred Pond: devotees also purify themselves by bathing in the Pushkarini pond before entering to the temple.
  • Festivals: The temple is most colorful during the celebration of Karthika Brahmotsavam festival.
